Narcos Characters:
There are many characters in Narcos, but some of the most important ones include Pablo Escobar (played by Wagner Moura), DEA agent Steve Murphy (played by Boyd Holbrook), and Javier Peufffda (played by Pedro Pascal).
Narcos Pablo Escobar
One of the most notorious drug lords of all time, Pablo Escobar was the head of the Colombian Medellin Cartel. He was born in 1949 in Rionegro, Colombia and raised in a poor neighbourhood on the outskirts of Medellin. Escobar began his criminal career as a teenager, smuggling cigarettes and selling them on the black market. He quickly progressed to selling cocaine and by the early 1980s, he was one of the biggest drug dealers in Colombia. In 1982, he formed the Medellin Cartel with several other major drug traffickers and soon controlled 80% of the world’s cocaine trade.
Escobar was known for his ruthless business tactics and complete disregard for the law. He frequently bribed officials and killed anyone who got in his way. His violent methods earned him numerous enemies, both inside and outside of Colombia. In 1993, he was finally captured by Colombian authorities but escaped from prison just one year later. After a massive manhunt, he was gunned down by police in December 1993.
Narcos: The True Story
The true story of the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar, the most notorious drug lord in history. From his beginnings as a small-time marijuana dealer in Medellufffdn, Colombia, to his eventual reign as one of the world’s most powerful drug kingpins, the story of Pablo Escobar is truly incredible.
TheNetflix original series Narcos chronicles Escobar’s rise to power and subsequent downfall, while also providing an inside look at the Colombian drug trade and the war on drugs. The show has been praised for its accurate portrayal of historical events, but it is also fictionalized in some ways.
Here are some key differences between Narcos and reality:
-In real life, Escobar did not kill Colombian presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galufffdn. This plot point was added for dramatic effect.
-Escobar was not directly responsible for the downing of Colombian airliner Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The character “Pablo” in Narcos suggests that he ordered the bombing, but this is not supported by evidence.
-While Escobar was certainly a ruthless killer, many of his victims were other members of the Colombian drug trade. In Narcos, however, most of his victims are innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
-Narcos depicts Escobar as a family man who is devoted to his wife and children. In reality, however, he was known to be abusive and neglectful towards them.
-The show portrays DEA agent Steve Murphy as singlehandedly taking down Pablo Escobar. In reality, it was a joint effort between several agencies including the DEA, CIA ,and military forces from several countries.
