It’s been a while since we’ve seen a good, old-fashioned monster movie. With all the recent focus on zombies and vampires, it’s easy to forget that there are other creatures out there that go bump in the night. So it’s nice to see Pixar’s “Monsters University” bringing the monsters back into the spotlight.
The film is a prequel to 2001’s “Monsters Inc.” and tells the story of how Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman) first met and became friends. We see them as they attend college together, where they start off as rivals but eventually learn to work together.
The film is packed with laughs and has some great messages about friendship and teamwork. The animation is top-notch, as you would expect from Pixar, and the voice cast is terrific. If you’re looking for a fun family film, “Monsters University” is definitely worth checking out.
